Prospect Park — 155 years from 1870 to 2025

The large-scale layout of Prospect Park, designed by Frederick Law Olmstead and Calvert Vaux, has changed little. But the ecology of the park has changed enormously. The beautifully manicured park of 155 years ago is now far more welcoming to much (but by no means all) of the wildlife that might have been seen there when Americans fought to defend New York from British occupation in 1776.

Prospect Park in 2025 has much the same large-scale layout that it did in 1870.
